Christmas is past and another new year is just about to ring in.
Ready or not, 2021 is just around the corner!
If you’re like many people, with the new year also comes new beginnings.
New goals, new aspirations, new hope.
There’s the person hoping to climb their ladder and get a better job.
Another is hoping for a successful relationship, and the list goes on.
There’s a bounce to people’s step and a feeling of anticipation in the air as resolutions pile high.
While you’re setting resolutions, don’t forget your furry pal.
Here are five simple resolutions to show your puppy love every day throughout this year.
Here’s to making 2021 the best year yet!
Resolution #1. Play with your puppy every day.
Snag a game of fetch in the backyard.
Visit a local dog-park together.
Take a leisurely stroll through a dog-friendly market.
Learn a few dog tricks together, and say yes to making happy pupper memories together.
By simply saying yes to playtime, your puppy is able to get the physical and mental exercise he needs.
Plus, bonding time can help alleviate bad doggy behaviors.
So go ahead and adjust your schedule to make playtime a priority.
Even a few minutes a day will benefit both you and your puppy.
Resolution #2. Go on more adventures.
Puppies enjoy a routine, not a rut.
So be adventurous and mix things up a bit.
Explore a new dog park, visit a dog-friendly restaurant (even if it’s takeout only), or take a dog-friendly vacation.
Your puppy will enjoy the different sights, sounds, smells, and extra time together with you.
Resolution #3. Go on more car rides.
Sometimes the best things in life are simple pleasures.
For dogs, there’s nothing like sticking their heads out of a car window and feeling the breeze whip through their hair.
When your little one is old enough to do so safely, give him this joy whenever possible.
Take your puppy along on errands, scenic drives, or just around the block.
He’ll love it and you’ll both be happier for it.
Resolution #4. Show affection each day.
Whether you are feeling sad and lonely or happy and excited, you can always depend on your dog to be right at your side.
So this year, take a minute each day to pay it back and show you really care for your dog even amidst the business of life.
Perhaps it’s a smooch on the nose, a scratch behind the ear, a pat on the back, a gratifying belly rub, or simply saying a quick ‘I love you.’
Your puppy will appreciate it and love you more for it.
Resolution #5. Take daily pictures of your puppy
Your puppy won’t be a puppy for long.
Soon he’ll be fully grown and swagging about in his own dashing adult self.
Of course, you’ll love him just the same but meanwhile, capture these precious moments with one photo a day.
At the end of the year, you’ll be able to look back and see how much closer you and your puppy have grown.
Your Take-Away
Like all things in life, you get out what you’re willing to first put in.
In 2021, why not make this the year to show your puppy what it looks like to be loved every single day?
And let’s not stop with just your puppy.
Together let’s build a community where puppies and individuals are free to be loved.
Your puppy will be better for it. Your relationships will be better for it. This world will be better for it.
