At Zane Gray GSDs, we take pride in our pups! If you are looking for the cheapest puppy money can buy, we would encourage you to look elsewhere. While our pups are not outrageously priced as are many other pups from breeders offering what we offer, we do spend much time and much money to ensure you are getting your money’s worth when purchasing one of our pups.
We understand that this puppy will be in your family for years to come, and for that reason, we want him/her to be a puppy that you are sure to be proud of! At Zane Gray GSDs, we focus primarily on 5 areas where our pups are concerned, and concerning these 5 areas, this is what you can expect from a pup that you get from us:
The Pup’s SCREENINGS:

The pup’s will have been cleared by our Vet, ready to send home – healthy & happy!
The pups will come with dewormings at 2, 4, & 6 weeks of age.
The pups will come with the first round of vaccinations at 6 weeks of age.

The Pup’s STIMULATION:
Our puppies undergo Early Neurological Stimulation beginning on Day 3 of the pup’s life. This early neurological stimulation ensures many benefits, and sets the pup up for a lifetime of success as he matures. The stimulation routine that we use was discovered by the U.S. military during wartime and instituted into the country’s military canine training program. Dogs that were handled using the biosensor routine were found to outperform littermates that were not handled using said routine in high-intensity situations. Not only did they out-perform, but they were also found to have an increased tolerance to stress, stronger immune systems, stronger heart rates and breathing rates, stronger nervous systems, and better and more consistent temperaments. They were also found to have longer life spans and were being used as service dogs later into life than their unexposed siblings.
What are the benefits to this stimulation that our pups undergo?

Do yourself a favor…if you don’t buy your pup from Zane Gray GSDs (and it’s okay if you don’t), DEFINITELY buy from a breeder that takes the time to use these stimulating routines on their pups in the early stages of life. You’ll never regret that decision!
The Pup’s SOCIALIZATION:
One thing you can expect from Zane Gray GSDs is a pup that has been socialized well by the 8th week of life. We are a small breeder by choice, not by force! It is of utmost importance to us that our pups are socialized – for the sake of the puppy, as well as for the sake of the new owner!
Our pups are never left in kennels, and interaction with children, toys/objects, people in general, sounds, and other interactions is a daily. Consider the following analysis put forth by Dr. Karen Becker, a proactive and integrative wellness veterinarian. She writes:
Puppies enter a sensitive period at about 3 weeks, and it lasts until they are about 14 weeks old; during this period, the socialization they experience shapes their adult personality and behavior
A study of 264 purebred puppies in Poland suggests that being reared indoors with continued access to family members and socialization opportunities sets puppies up for success as adult family dogs. Puppies reared in outdoor kennels with limited human interaction are likely to show more submissive behaviors, fear-based aggression, and less capacity to cope with novel situations.
Each puppy at our home receives the necessary socialization needed for success beyond the puppy years.
The Pup’s SCHEDULE:
We do more than “birth ‘em, bathe ‘em, and bid them farewell!” We work with our pups beginning at 3 weeks of age so that your job will be easier when you get back home with your newfound friend! By the time you receive your pup, he/she will already have been started on the following training schedule:

Litter Pan Training (starting at 3-4 weeks)
Car rides
Outdoor experiences
Basic commands, i.e., sit, stay, down
Phase 1 recall training
Food training (no snatching)
Crate training (starting at 6-7 weeks)
Leash training (starting at 7 weeks)

We take individualized and dedicated time with EACH pup (different from all pups, as your pup will be getting individual attention as opposed to group attention).
