AKC Puppies for Adoption
AKC puppies or AKC dogs are canines that are registered or are registrable with the American Kennel Club.
AKC, short for American Kennel Club, is the oldest dog registry body inside the United States and is a trusted club where purebred dogs are registered and lineage is tracked.
A new puppy may be registered with AKC only if both parents were AKC registered.
In order to register a pup with AKC, the breeder must first submit a form to AKC following a puppy’s birth.
AKC will then issue “blue slips” for each puppy.
On each slip is included a specific registration number, the sire and dam, date of birth and the breeder’s name and address.
After a puppy is purchased, the new owner must submit that blue slip with the appropriate fee and, viola!
The pup becomes registered and within mere days an AKC registration certificate is issued for your little pupper.
Unfortunately, only a small percentage of eligible dogs are ever registered.
In addition, information regarding a puppy is dependent largely on a breeder’s integrity.
AKC also conducts random inspections to ensure kennels are meeting club standards.
